The week of September 29-October 3 was an exciting time for our Ballad Health Academy team and students as they welcomed visitors from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
During the visit, the Ballad Health Academy team had the opportunity to tour alongside them, showcasing the incredible progress our students have made. Together, they visited each participating school across multiple cities, highlighting the many lives being impacted and offering a glimpse into the bright future of our region’s healthcare workforce.
The visit included the in-person reveal of the mobile simulation lab — a custom-designed unit that will bring high-tech, hands-on healthcare training directly to students. Equipped with advanced simulation equipment, the lab allows students to practice real-world clinical skills without ever leaving their schools.
The week concluded with a special event for students and their families, where schools, healthcare professionals, and community partners came together to share guidance and answer questions about future career paths. While families learned how Ballad Health Academy will shape both their students’ futures and the region’s workforce, students had the chance to continue engaging with healthcare professionals through interactive learning experiences.
We’re incredibly grateful to have this opportunity in our region, and deeply thankful to Bloomberg Philanthropies for their support. Their investment is helping us build a strong, skilled and community-driven healthcare workforce right here in the Appalachian Highlands.
